The Green Triangle brings together Clean Growth businesses with Hertfordshire’s research talent

The Green Triangle hosted the inaugural Clean Growth Networking Forum at Rothamsted Conference Centre in February. The event brought together world class researchers from Hertfordshire’s premier research institutions with innovative businesses looking to grow within the sustainability sector.

This event was an opportunity for the businesses to present themselves and identify areas where knowledge exchange and collaboration could provide commercial benefit. The Green Triangle partners aim to provide collaborative research and support, business development and growth, incubation and access to a skilled and highly educated work force ready to make a difference to Hertfordshire businesses.

A selection of excellent presentations from organisations such as the Enterprise Europe Network, Hertfordshire LEP and AECOM provided information on government funding opportunities, the local industrial strategy and a case-study on industry/academic collaborations.

Subsequently, representatives from 8 local SMEs gave fascinating updates on the status of their businesses, which addressed widely differing areas relating to Clean Growth and Sustainability, and provided energy and passion about their businesses. All speakers presented information about where they were looking for support and these connections were made and further developed at the networking session following the presentations. The presentation slides are available here.

“There is a huge benefit to collaboration and working in such a multi-disciplinary way brings innovation and novel solutions to our business community. Organisations such as The Green Triangle are at the forefront in delivering the industrial strategy and we can bring solutions to productivity and to skills shortages.” Julie Newlan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Hertfordshire.

The event was a great success and brought together some of the brightest minds from Hertfordshire’s business and research communities. It is hoped that this provides a foundation for continued commercial growth as Hertfordshire remains one of the UK’s leading places for green businesses.
